Peta O'Halloran
Peta O’Halloran is a ceramic artist in the Macarthur region of Sydney.
Peta pursued her passion for ceramics with a Diploma of Ceramics at TAFE Gymea and attained the Highest Achievement award. Since launching her own studio practice with PetaPeta Ceramics, Peta has participated in the Campbelltown Arts Centre Maker’s Markets and displays pieces available for purchase in the Art Centre Artist Exchange shop.
Peta captures everyday moments in clay, elevating the seemingly unimportant events in one’s life. She connects her own experience of motherhood with playful anthropomorphic sculptures and explores womanhood with curvaceous female forms inspired by the Venus figurines of ancient cultures. It is with great joy that her odd little sculptural creations from studio or exhibitions find their way into another’s home.
Her figurative sculptures have been exhibited in the Little Things Art Prize (St. Cloche Gallery), Fishers Ghost Art Award (Campbelltown Arts Centre), Biblio Art Prize (Blarney Books, VIC), Friends of C.A.C exhibition (Campbelltown Arts Centre), Hazlehurst Regional Gallery, Muse Gallery (Ultimo) and The Ceramic Design Studio (Gymea).
Further study is always at the forefront of her practice alongside teaching ceramics when the opportunity arises. Peta is building upon her previous studies in the field of science with a Masters of Teaching and is also an active member of the Macarthur Ceramics Group.
